Mosquito-Spread Dengue Now Confirmed in Eight Florida Counties as Broward Joins the Outbreak Map

Broward County has confirmed its first locally acquired dengue case of 2026, making it the eighth Florida county where people have caught the virus from mosquitoes close to home this year. The Florida Department of Health in Broward County announced the case Monday, Oct. 5, and placed the county under a mosquito-borne illness advisory, WUSF reported.
