Mia Le Roux Reflects on Life as She Turns 31

Former Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux recently celebrated her 31st birthday with a heartfelt message reflecting on her journey through life.
On 28 June 2026, Mia shared a childhood photo of herself and opened up about the highs and lows that shaped the woman she is today.
She began by celebrating another year around the sun and looking back at her younger self.
“31 years around the sun!
Little Mia, so full of joy! I was such an excited and happy child. Always doing my tasks diligently and eager to please my parents and teachers. I was surrounded by so much love and encouragement.”
Mia then spoke about the difficult years she experienced growing up.
“Then came the terrible tweens and teens. When awareness started to trickle into me and my peers how different I was and I fell into deep depression.”
Despite the challenges, she said every experience helped shape her into the person she is today.
“I grew a lot, failed a lot and succeeded a lot. After 31 years around the sun I have found my peace in between the spaces of belonging and not belonging. And finally the parts that makes me different feels like home. Thank you to all my people, your love has carried me for many miles.”
Her fiancé, Luke Tenoever, also celebrated her special day with a touching birthday tribute.
Alongside beautiful photos of Mia, he wrote:
“Dear Miatjie, Dear my biggest believer, Dear the love of my life, Another full trip around the sun with you, and honestly, it’s been the most special one yet.”
Luke praised Mia for the impact she has had on others and how inspiring it has been to watch her chase her dreams.
“Sitting in the stands and watching you grab life by the horns while changing so many people’s lives has been one of the greatest privileges of mine.”
He also thanked her for always believing in him.
“Thank you for always believing in me and pushing me forward, even when I felt flat. Your smile is infectious, your energy is contagious, and most importantly, your heart is pure gold.”
Luke ended his message with a heartfelt birthday wish.
“Happy birthday, my lief. Here’s to many more adventures, countless memories, and so many more trips around the sun together. Jy is my hart se punt.”
