Singer Thabsie has officially released her brand-new EP, While You Wait, giving fans six fresh songs to enjoy. Along with the release, she gave her followers a closer look at the project by sharing the cover art and heartfelt explanations behind four of the songs, giving listeners a better understanding of the emotions and stories that inspired them.
The EP opens with Good Time, a lively collaboration with Emtee. The song brings together fun energy and an upbeat sound that sets the mood for the rest of the project. Speaking about the track, Thabsie wrote, “This song is flirty & fun with an undeniable groove! Can’t believe I have a song with a living legend!” The song cover features both Thabsie and Emtee, celebrating their exciting collaboration.
The second track, Body Talk, explores the silent connection between two people. Sharing what the song means to her, Thabsie wrote, “Some connections don’t ask for many words. They exist in lingering glances, fingertips that remember and bodies that have mastered a language our mouths have never needed to learn. We really had fun creating this one in the studio, I hope it shows.”
For the third song, Hurt, Thabsie opened up about the pain that comes when love changes. She shared the song cover alongside a touching explanation, writing, “When love stops feeling like home and starts feeling like a weapon. When their words no longer match their actions. This song is for anyone who’s had to accept that staying only meant hurting more.”
The fourth track, Again, reflects on the ups and downs of love and healing. Explaining the meaning behind the song, she wrote, “A heartfelt reflection on the emotional & sometimes toxic cycle of love, heartbreak and healing.” She also revealed that the song pays tribute to one of her musical inspirations, adding, “My love for sampling South African greats that have inspired me shines through in this reinterpretation of ‘Once Again’ by the legendary @harrisoncrump.”
Although Thabsie only shared detailed stories for four songs, the EP also includes Call You Over and Kudala, completing the six-track project.
By giving fans a glimpse into the inspiration behind several of the songs, Thabsie has made While You Wait more than just a collection of music. Each explanation adds another layer to the listening experience, allowing fans to connect with the emotions, memories and messages that shaped the EP.
