Banyana Banyana’s provisional squad mixes experience and youth as they prepare to lift crowns at COSAFA and WAFCON.

South Africa (06 February 2026) – Banyana Banyana are back in action, and the excitement is already building as the squad gears up for a thrilling start to 2026! South Africa’s women’s national football team is gearing up for a huge year on the international stage, with coach Dr Desiree Ellis revealing a 38-player squad for an extended Alignment camp. The camp, which kicks off on Friday, 13 February 2026, will carry the team through the COSAFA Women’s Championship and directly into the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The regional COSAFA tournament takes place in Polokwane from 18 February to 1 March, while WAFCON is set to be staged in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April. International-based stars are expected to join the team later in the month, aligning with the FIFA window.

The team has been drawn in Group A alongside Malawi, Lesotho, and Angola, and they’ll kick off the COSAFA tournament training together before the squad is fine-tuned for WAFCON. This seamless camp setup means the players can build rhythm and chemistry as they head into the continental stage.

Here are some of the names included in the squad.

Standout performers getting a chance to shine include Bonolo Mokoma (Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year) and Dineo Magagula, who claimed Goalkeeper of the Year. Exciting young talents like Karabo Dhlamini and Jessica Wade, winners of the new Defender of the Season and Midfielder of the Season awards, have also been called up, showing there’s plenty of fresh energy in the squad.

This is a perfect mix of experience and rising stars. Banyana Banyana are ready to hit the pitch with confidence and hope to claim the crown.
