Award-winning poet, speaker and presenter Botlhale Boikanyo has shared exciting news with her fans. The talented star recently announced that she is just days away from graduating from Wits University with an Honours degree.
Botlhale revealed that she has been studying in secret for the past year while continuing with her busy career. Although fans saw her travelling, creating content and sharing moments from her life online, they did not know she was also working hard towards her qualification.
She shared the exciting update on Instagram and told her followers that she will soon graduate with an Honours in Film & Television.
“Besties, I’ve been keeping a secret. For the past year, while you were watching me travel, create and share life online, your girl was also studying for her Honours in Film & Television.
“And now we’re officially 3 days away from graduation! Welcome to B’s Road To Graduation. Can’t wait to share this moment with you all,” she captioned her post.
Botlhale also explained what inspired her to return to university after taking some time away from her studies.
“I finally decided to go back to school and enrolled for my Honours in Film and Television at Wits University.”
She said her passion for learning returned after taking part in the Mandela Washington Fellowship at Michigan State University.
“Going back to school has been something that I’ve been thinking about for a long time but after the Mandela Washington Fellowship at Michigan State University, my love for learning was reignited.”
The actress said the experience reminded her of the curious young girl she once was.
“I remembered the little girl who had always been curious, always asking questions and always eager to learn and to create,” she said.
Botlhale also opened up about the challenges she faced while studying. She said it was not an easy journey because she had to balance her academic work with her career and other responsibilities.
“This journey wasn’t one that was easy – it meant balancing lectures, research, deadlines while still working, travelling, creating and showing up for my community.”
Her announcement has inspired many fans, who congratulated her for staying focused and achieving another important milestone. Botlhale’s story shows that it is never too late to return to school and chase your dreams.
