THE FUSE

The Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs (DARDLEA) joined forces with the Agricultural Research Council (ARC) to host a Livestock Information Day in Middelburg, within the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality. This event brought together local livestock farmers to gain insights into beef production, management calendars, and market trends. The session was designed to provide practical knowledge that farmers can apply directly to their operations, helping them increase productivity and efficiency. Attendees also received guidance on navigating the current challenges in the livestock sector, particularly in light of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreaks. The initiative highlighted the value of collaboration between government departments, research institutions, and farmers in strengthening the agricultural sector.
