Ahmedabad, India (10 February 2026) – The Proteas couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, powering to a convincing win over Canada in Ahmedabad to register their first victory of the tournament.

But while the scoreboard told one story, it was David Miller’s post-match video that captured the mood inside the South African camp perfectly. Relaxed and confident about what’s to come.

Shot moments after the final ball, David’s short video felt less like analysis and more like an invitation into the Proteas’ inner circle.

“I just wanted to say it was a great start from the big Proteas. Obviously Lungi, man of the match. So pleased for him. He bowled really, really well. Good energy from all the bowlers, batters putting in big performances. So all in all, great start from the boys.”

On the field, South Africa delivered exactly that. David himself played a key role with the bat, finishing on 39 off 23 balls. While Tristan Stubbs added a 34 off 19 as the pair stitched together an unbeaten 75-run partnership to lift the Proteas to a commanding 213.

Then came the bowlers, led by a fired-up Lungi Ngidi, who wasted no time making an impact and claiming the Player of the Match honours.

Yet even with a comprehensive 57-run win secured, David’s message showed that the team has no intention to linger on this opening success.

“Second game is Afghanistan, so we’re going to rest up really well and looking forward to that game. It’s a day game, so different challenges, different conditions, but all the boys are really excited and ready to go.”

The video ended with a reminder that this Proteas side is embracing both the moment and the journey ahead.

“So keep supporting us and great start so far.”
