Faith and Feminism: Reclaiming Islam for Muslim Women..

The narrative that feminism is anti-Islam is a false dichotomy and a false divide. For many Muslim women, especially in Africa, embracing feminism does not mean leaving Islam,it means returning to it more deeply,it means reading the Qur’an with fresh eyes, stripping away centuries of patriarchal interpretations, and insisting that the justice, mercy, and equality God promises applies to women fully and without exception. Islam’s core message is clear, men and women are created from a single soul ,judged by the same moral standards, and equal in spiritual worth and reward in the hereafter. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) elevated women in many ways during his time, around 7th-century Arabia,he accepted their testimonies in certain matters, allowed them to own properties, inherit, initiate divorce (Talaq),and participate in public life.
