A scientist who spent decades convincing colleagues that the Antarctic ice sheet could serve as a telescope has won the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physics. The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences awarded the prize on Tuesday, Oct. 6, to Francis Halzen of the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his work on the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and the discovery of high-energy neutrinos from beyond Earth, Forbes reported.
