In his recent article, Adam Cruise challenges support for the proposed Urban Wildlife Centre for Cape Town’s Waterfall and Seaforth baboon troops. He argues that scientific expertise does not confer moral authority, that the decision to confine them cannot be justified by ecological evidence alone, that alternatives exist, and that wild animals have an inherent interest in freedom.
