Melissa Nayimuli has shared behind-the-scenes moments from her groom welcoming ceremony, which took place in the Eastern Cape.

The beauty queen posted a clip showing her friends travelling to the Eastern Cape for the special occasion. The video also captured family members singing, dancing and celebrating throughout the ceremony.

Melissa expressed gratitude to her loved ones for their support and wrote:

“As my bestie said… it was a BIG BIG WEEKEND!!!!

Here’s part 1 of what went down at our Groom’s Welcoming Ceremony / Ulwamkelo Lwabayeni

Watching these videos back has me so emotional because I’m just in awe of how much joy, love and celebration filled this weekend. Our people LOVE us for real

They drove 9 hours just to celebrate with us. The singing, the dancing, the laughter? Thank you @pacecarrental for driving them to EC & back safely! You won’t see much of Mandla and I in this video because on this day we were not allowed to see each other Not even a wave across the room.

As per our traditions, I was kept in isolation the whole night while my friends and immediate family came to check in on me every now and then. The FOMO I had?!

I love everything about being African! I love everything about being black! I love our culture so much. Shout out to all my friends who helped capture this video”

Melissa also revealed that part two of the celebrations would be shared soon.

In another post, she gave followers a closer look at her traditional bridal attire and reflected on the emotional morning.

“Oh, to be an African bride. Honestly, this morning had me soooo emotional. Everything about this ceremony was just beautiful. The love, the singing, the joy, the traditions just WOW! So here is a little summary:

I started the morning getting dressed in radiant Ugandan attire by my aunt while waiting for my in laws to come “fetch me.” Meanwhile, my family and friends were outside my door singing, dancing, ululating, and celebrating the whole time.

Then my in laws came to greet me and dress me in makoti attire before presenting me to everyone, including my husband. And the celebration after that??? UNMATCHED! I sang my heart out.

Just feeling so grateful for everyone who came to celebrate us. My heart is so full.”
