Actress and radio host Thando Thabethe recently shared a frightening experience after she was hospitalised following a skydiving incident during a jump in Cape Town.

The media personality opened up about the scary moment in a video posted on Instagram, where she showed parts of her skydiving journey and what happened after the landing.

“Didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, so I created a movie instead. Would I do it again? Absolutely yes!!! A reminder to do it scared, but do it anyway!!! Disclaimer: NOT FOR SENSITIVE VIEWERS,” she captioned the clip.

In the video, Thabethe explained that this was her third skydive and her first time doing it in the Cape Town region. She shared that skydiving has always been one of the activities on her bucket list.

“I decided to go on my third skydive. I was so excited. I have done two of these in other regions, but this will be my very first one in the Cape Town region,” she said.

Thabethe also explained why she enjoys skydiving despite how risky and scary it can be.

“There’s a feeling of renewal, a feeling of if I can conquer this then I can conquer anything in life,” she shared.

The actress added that this jump was different from the others because it was her highest jump yet.

“This would be my highest jump yet at 14 000 feet. Meaning your free fall is longer than usual until the parachute opens,” she added.

However, things did not go as planned when it was time to land. Thabethe said she had always been warned that landing is one of the most important parts of skydiving.

“I’ve always been told that landing is probably the most crucial part of any skydive ride,” she said.

Unfortunately, she landed buttocks-first, which caused her injuries and led to her being taken to hospital.

“The times I have done it, this is not how I’ve landed on the ground,” she explained.

“I didn’t think I would be able to stand up, but I eventually did and ended up in the hospital.”

At the end of the video, Thabethe said “to be continued,” hinting that she will soon share another update about what happened after the painful landing.
