Flash Flood and Landslides Kill 10 in India’s Kerala State as Officials Promise Aid and Better River Warnings

A flash flood on the Kottapuzha River and separate landslides in the hills of southern India killed 10 people in Kerala on Sunday, Sept. 20, and the search for the missing has ended. Rescue teams recovered the last missing victim, 26-year-old Sajitha, a resident of the riverside T.K. Colony, from the river near Nilambur in Malappuram district on Sept. 22, bringing the flash flood toll to six, The Watchers reported. Landslides in Idukki and Kottayam districts killed four others the same day.
