Anti-war messaging is the heart of Gundam, and that messaging may come off as too on-the-nose when juxtaposed against the current global landscape. Kenji Kamiyama knows that concern all too well, as he’s at the helm of the latest title in the franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam RG: XARX-ZERO. Pronounced “RG Alex Zero,” the story follows Ray Azumi, an orphan who is set to pilot the new-generation mobile suit, Gundam ZERO. Humanity, after a period of prosperity and expansion across the solar system, is forced to abandon Earth due to a hostile silicon-based lifeform called Apocalypse.
