Middle East conflict drives global air passenger decline in May

According to the International Air Transport Association (Iata), global passenger demand fell 2.2% year-on-year in May as the conflict in the Middle East continued to weigh on airline traffic. Excluding the Middle East, however, global passenger demand increased by 0.7%, highlighting the resilience of the broader aviation market despite ongoing geopolitical uncertainty.
