New Kaizer Chiefs signing: Jersey number spotted

Kaizer Chiefs followers enjoyed another glimpse of new signing Adolf Mtasingw. The midfielder was spotted in Rustensburg ahead of the Toyota Cup.
Amakhosi held their final training session at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium before Sunday’s clash against Zimbabwean Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.
ADOLF MTASINGWA HANDED NUMBER 22
During the training session, new Kaizer Chiefs signing Adolf Mtasingwa was spotted wearing the number 22 jersey.
The shirt became available after George Matlou completed his move to Stellenbosch FC. Mtasingwa looks likely to wear it during the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.
The 27-year-old joined Amakhosi from Azam FC last week. The transfer fee was not disclosed. He also became the first Tanzanian footballer to sign for the Soweto giants.
Born in Bukoba, Tanzania, Mtasingwa is regarded as a disciplined holding midfielder. He is known for his positional awareness, physical strength and ability to shield the defence. He is also comfortable controlling the tempo from deep.
KAIZER CHIEFS ADD EXPERIENCE
Before returning to Tanzania, Mtasingwa spent six seasons in Europe. He played in Iceland, Norway and Finland. Those years helped improve his tactical awareness and passing ability.
He joined Azam FC in 2024 and quickly became club captain. His leadership helped the club finish third in the Tanzanian Premier League.
Mtasingwa is also the vice-captain of the Tanzania national team. He has featured in both Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Kaizer Chiefs will hope the experienced midfielder makes his unofficial debut against Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup on Sunday. Supporters are expected to get their first close look at the club’s historic Tanzanian signing.
