A number of deaths confirmed following two-car crash
An unconfirmed number have people have died following a road traffic collision in County Louth in the Republic of Ireland.
Gardaí (Irish police) said on Sunday morning that "the vehicles and bodies of the deceased all remain at scene".
A Garda spokesperson said: "A number of people have also been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda."
The crash, involving two vehicles, happened on the L3168, Ardee Road, in the townland of Gibstown, Dundalk, on Saturday shortly after 21:00 local time, gardaí remain at the scene.
Gardaí said the road remains closed between the N52 and the R171, pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local traffic diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
