The 26-year-old recently joined Amakhosi as a free agent having left Stellenbosch FC in June.
Freese, who coached Moloisane at All Stars, claimed the defender should have contested for the Footballer of the Season award which was one by Relebohile Mofokeng.
“I support their choice of Relebohile Mofokeng as Footballer of the Season, but Thabo Moloisane undoubtedly deserved to come much closer,” Freese said as per Kickoff.
“The issue is that we tend to focus heavily on midfielders and strikers, neglecting defenders.”
Speaking about the new Kaizer Chiefs defender, Freeze highlighted Moloisane’s qualities, saying he was good in one-v-one situations.
The ex-Stellies defender has been one of the best centre-backs in the league and even earned a few Bafana Bafana call-ups. He however, missed out on the squad for the FIFA World Cup and wasn’t nominated for defender of the season.
Ex-PSL says Kaizer Chiefs defender Moloisane deserved more
“When I coached him at All Stars, I deployed him in a back three, and he excelled on the right side,” Feeeze added.
“He defends effectively, is strong one-v-one, and wins aerial duels despite not being very tall.
“He easily could have been the Footballer of the Season,” the former PSL coach explained.
Moloisane is the only defender to join Kaizer Chiefs, having replaced Aden McCarthy. He is expected to start on Saturday as Amakhosi play Kruger United in their first match of the season at the Mbombela Stadium.
