South African Amapiano sensation Zee Nxumalo continues to make waves in the music industry as she earns recognition at the upcoming Basadi in Music Awards.

The Ngisakuthanda hitmaker is nominated in several prestigious categories, including Artist of the Year, Amapiano Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Collaboration of the Year with Mawhoo, and Best Styled Artist of the Year.

The recognition comes as the Basadi in Music Awards prepare to honour women who are making a significant impact in the South African music industry. The 5th annual Basadi in Music Awards will take place over two nights on August 7 and August 8, 2026. The event will be hosted at the Joburg Theatre in Johannesburg, with the Vanguard Circle Awards taking place on the first night and the Main Awards on the second night.

The nominations add to what has already been an exciting year for the singer. Recently, Zee Nxumalo featured on the cover of Forbes Africa’s prestigious 30 Under 30 list for 2026, highlighting her growing influence and success in the entertainment industry.

Forbes Africa reflected on Nxumalo’s musical journey and how she evolved from posting covers to creating her own identity in music.

“Zandile ‘Zee’ Nxumalo’s journey started with covers that eventually led to Amapiano fans calling for her to create her own sound.

“Making covers was the easiest part of my career,” Nxumalo says in an interview with FORBES AFRICA. “It did not intimidate me. But creating my own sound, the ‘Zee’ sound, has been the most fun.”

Her journey is a testament to hard work, growth, and staying true to her artistic vision. From capturing audiences with cover songs to becoming one of Amapiano’s most recognisable voices, Zee Nxumalo continues to prove that she is a force to be reckoned with.
