Barcadi dancer and singer Jelly Babie has alleged that she experienced abuse in her marriage. The performer, whose real name is Karabo Khakhu, opened up about her personal life during a question-and-answer session with fans on her official Instagram account on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

During the Q&A session on her Instagram stories, Jelly Babie spoke honestly about her marriage after a follower asked how married life had been treating her. Her response revealed deep regret about the decision.

“Yoh, I regret getting married,” she wrote.

The singer also shared pictures showing bruises on her legs. She claimed that the injuries were connected to the difficult experiences she faced in her marriage.

“I survived being in an abusive marriage at a young age but I don’t think I will ever recover,” she wrote.

Jelly Babie further revealed how the situation affected her emotionally. She told followers that she went through extremely painful moments while dealing with the alleged abuse.

“I tried killing my self many times but god is always next to me.”

The dancer also claimed that her husband controlled their finances during the marriage. According to her, he convinced her that she could not save money and asked her to send him the money she earned from her gigs so they could supposedly save for their future.

“He manipulated me and told me I can’t save money i spend a lot I must send him my gigs money so we can save money to have a better future and I did send him all my money for like full 2 years,” she wrote.

Jelly Babie alleged that she sent him all the money she made from her performances for about two years. She claimed the amount was more than R2 million, and that the money was later spent on other women.

Despite the painful experiences she shared, Jelly Babie said she believes in being honest with her followers and does not want to pretend that everything in her life is perfect.

“One thing about me I will never hide my honest truth about my life and post only happy moments,” she wrote.

The dancer previously spoke about her views on marriage in an interview with Freshman Magazine. At the time, she explained how she saw marriage as a serious responsibility. She got married at the age of 18.

“Marriage is different from a relationship because no matter what you do, no matter how angry you are, you always must go back home,” she explained. “Being married is like having a kid. You have to think about someone and also think for yourself. You have to make sure your partner has eaten or make sure you give them whatever they need.”

She also said that her husband understood that she was an artist and supported her career.

“My man knows she married an artist, and I can be whatever. Where there’s money there’s me, so he understands.”

Jelly Babie added that when he attended her performances, it motivated her to give her best on stage.

“Whenever he’s around during my performances I get excited and go all out so he can remember who he had married.”
