Juicy Jay Opens Up About His Breakup with Yvonne Godswill

Reality TV star, sports broadcaster and tv presenter Siyamthanda Jwacu famously known as Juicy Jay, who rose to fame on Big Brother Titans, has opened up about his public relationship with Nigerian brand influencer Yvonne Godswill and why it eventually came to an end. The two met in the Big Brother Titans house in 2023, where their connection quickly caught the attention of viewers across Africa.

Speaking on the Engineer Your Life podcast, Juicy Jay reflected honestly on how their relationship began and the emotions that came with it. He explained that from the moment he met Yvonne, he was drawn to her as a person and not where she came from. Juicy Jay said, “When I got to her, it was just like, wow, I wasn’t thinking nationality. I saw a human being and I fell in love with that. I got to build a friendship with this person. I’m not thinking what are people going to say.”

Their relationship grew beyond the show and continued for two years. However, maintaining a long-distance relationship came with its own challenges. Juicy Jay shared that over time, he felt like he was the one putting in most of the effort to keep things going. He said, “For me I felt I carried the weight of making it work.”

He explained what he meant by that, saying, “Carrying in the sense that you start the conversations. You start the phone calls. Initiating of those things. I felt like I was carrying the load of making this long distance thing work and it didn’t feel like a team effort at some point.” Despite this, Juicy Jay made it clear that distance was not the main reason the relationship failed. He added, “I don’t think the failure of my relationship was based on the distance.”

Juicy Jay also revealed that there was pressure placed on him to reach certain life goals within a specific time. At first, he ignored the signs, but later realised how serious the situation was. He said he was given a clear deadline: “2 years get your sh*t together if not … like I need to be at some point.” This made him feel like he needed to improve his financial situation and overall life in order to be seen as enough.

The reality star admitted that this deeply affected him emotionally. He said, “I felt like I needed to be this version of a person that she could be happy with… I don’t feel like what I’m offering now at the moment is enough.” According to Juicy Jay, Yvonne acknowledged his efforts but still felt it was not enough. He shared her words, “I can see that your doing ABCD. I appreciate that. You’re trying your level best to make sure this and this is happening but its not enough.”

This was especially painful for him. Juicy Jay explained, “But for me now, ‘not enough’ is cutting deeper. Because this ‘not enough’ means that I am also not enough.” He added that hearing this from someone he loved and valued made it even harder, as her opinion held great weight in his life.
