A Lesbian Romance We Can All Love

I’ve written bit about some of my favourite video games, including the Horizon series, but this time I want to devote a specific piece to the lesbian romance in Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC. It’s truly some of the best queer content I’ve come across in a long time. II also think this would be good to cover, given how so many reactionaries reacted in uproar over the main protagonist of the Horizon series being a lesbian, as well as a woman.
Horizon is a very popular video game series that began with Zero Dawn back in 2017. 2022 gave us the latest release in the main series. The games follow the story of Aloy, a woman born as an outcast who eventually joins the Nora tribe and embarks on a grand quest to save the earth from imminent destruction by a robot threat. No doubt this sounds all well and good, but the romance between Aloy and Seyka in the DLC (extra, downloadable content) for Forbidden West is one of the best aspects of Aloy’s story.
I’m a really big fan of the Horizon games, as I’ve written before, so I wanted to write a piece talking about this aspect of Aloy’s story. Not just because of my love for these games, but also because I think it’s a really great queer story.
