From Dawn to Dusk, Limpopo Agriculture Drives Food Security and Farm Development

From dawn to dusk, Limpopo MEC for Agriculture Mr Basikopo Makamu continues to place food security, agricultural development and farmer support at the centre of the province’s efforts to strengthen rural livelihoods. His message to farming communities is direct: agriculture must do more than produce food. It must create employment, reduce poverty and help households become more self-reliant. This approach was highlighted on 6 October 2026 when Limpopo joined communities around the world in commemorating World Food Day as part of World Food Month at Ha-Tshikonelo Village. Held under the theme “Innovate Today, Nourish Tomorrow,” the event placed local food production and sustainable agriculture at the heart of discussions about the future of food security in the province.
