Adolescents are preparing to go off to college very soon, and the kids and their parents are anxious and excited. I try to provide as much support as possible for the kids and their parents. The idea of leaving home and leaving friends and family is a lot to deal with. The adolescents are worried about making new friends, whether or not they will get along with their roommates, and what it will be like not having their parents and being in unfamiliar surroundings. The structure of their day and who they will go to meals with is also a major concern. The parents share similar concerns and worry about whether or not their kids will adjust well, be safe, and use good judgment.
