International Women’s Day Celebrates Women in Agriculture in Maruleng

International Women’s Day was commemorated on 8 March 2026 at Enable Hall in Maruleng Local Municipality, highlighting the vital role of women in agriculture and rural economies. The event, led by the Office of the Premier with Acting Premier Mme Mavhungu Leruli and MEC for Limpopo Department of Education, emphasized women’s empowerment, equality, and leadership in farming communities. Farmers, local stakeholders, and government representatives gathered to celebrate women’s contributions to food production and rural development. International Women’s Day has its roots in early 20th-century labor movements in Europe and North America, reflecting decades of advocacy for women’s rights.
