South African radio host and DJ Lamiez Holworthy has opened up about her health, cyberbullying and the importance of women putting themselves first after attending a National Women’s Day event in Bloemfontein.

As a radio host at Metro FM, Lamiez attended the Women’s Day Business & Fashion Fest 2026, held as part of Free State Fashion Week. The event took place on Saturday, 8 August 2026, at the Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein.

The event brought fashion, business and empowerment together for a day focused on inspiration, connection and style. Lamiez was among the speakers who shared messages aimed at encouraging and empowering women.

In a clip shared on Facebook, Lamiez spoke about the importance of women showing love and care for their daughters while continuing to support the people they love. Her message, however, took on an even deeper meaning after she revealed that she nearly lost her life shortly after delivering the speech.

In the caption accompanying the video, she wrote: “After nearly losing my life literally a day after this speech,l stand by my words now more than ever.

It’s crazy how God chose National Women’s Day to not only remind me that I am a woman but that I am human too and that my health should always come first.

Please tag your neighbourhood bully because now more than ever, the suicide rate has gone higher and I’ll be damned if I sit back and just let it happen.

We have too many broken little boys and girls walking around in adult bodies and that is why cyber bullying has been normalised and me? I’m tired! Go to therapy and HEAL because we are tired of being bled on.

Ladies, if you experience abnormal period or back pains, please visit your nearest doctor. I nearly lost my life because I ignored mine and chose to put work first.

1 out of 10 women suffer from Ovarian cysts and endometriosis.

Living with constant pain isn’t normal nor is there any honour in working yourself to death- I learnt that the hard way. Sending you all love, light and healing.”

Lamiez’s message highlights two issues she believes should not be ignored: the emotional damage caused by cyberbullying and the physical warning signs women may experience but choose to overlook.

Her words also serve as a personal reminder that putting work and responsibilities ahead of one’s health can have serious consequences. By sharing her experience, she encouraged women to listen to their bodies, seek medical attention when something feels wrong and understand that living with constant pain should not simply be accepted.

She also called on people to stop normalising cyberbullying and encouraged those struggling with unresolved issues to seek professional help.

For Lamiez, National Women’s Day became more than a celebration of women. It became a reminder that women are also human, and that their health, wellbeing and healing deserve attention.
