Harry Kane marked his record-equalling 125th England cap with two goals in a 3-0 win over Czechia on Tuesday, keeping the Three Lions three points behind perfect Spain in Group A3 of the Uefa Nations League.

Kane, equalling Peter Shilton’s appearance record, took his England scoring record to 91 goals.

England led after 27 minutes when Vladimir Coufal turned an England cross into his own net, before Kane finished a slick team move on 40 minutes to wrong-foot the keeper.

He hit the crossbar early in the second half then headed home a corner for 3-0 just before the hour mark.

England lost their opener at home to Spain but have now won three straight matches and will reach the quarter-finals should they avoid heavy defeat to Croatia in their next game.

Elsewhere, Spain fought back to beat Croatia 2-1 to stay perfect and book their last eight spot, stretching their unbeaten run to 42 games.

Ivan Perisic, Kane’s former Spurs teammate, headed Croatia ahead after 17 minutes after Unai Simon parried Igor Matanovic’s drive.

Dani Olmo teed up substitute Mikel Merino to level on 61 minutes, before Perisic was sent off for a second booking.

Merino, who also scored off the bench against Czechia on Saturday, then turned and fired in the winner with a minute remaining.

With the international break now wrapped up, attention will turn to club football after what was a lengthy pause to proceedings.
