South African actress Londeka Sishi has finally shared the reason behind her absence at the SAFTAs, where she won a major award. The talented star took home the award for Best Actress in a TV Soap for her role in Scandal!, but was not present to collect it on the night.
Taking to Instagram, Londeka opened up about what really happened, revealing that she had been hospitalised during the awards weekend.
She wrote, “It’s been just over a week since my SAFTA win and I’m still shook! Firstly I want to sincerely apologise for not making the awards, I had to be rushed to Hospital on Saturday and was only discharged on Tuesday (story for another day) but God is good, recovering well and getting stronger by the day”
Despite the unexpected health scare, the actress expressed deep gratitude and emotion about her win, sharing how much the moment meant to her.
“Every time I try to piece together words for the season I come from and what this win actually means to me, I’m wrecked with emotions. The @saftassa nomination alone had me walking on cloud nine, the win was an affirmation I had no idea I needed. A reminder of just how infinite God is when it comes to the details of our lives.”
“Guys? Thank you honestly from the deepest parts of me, thank you for seeing me, thank you for helping me bet on me, thank you for loving me. @keneilwematidze, I’ll forever be grateful to you. Thank you for being the vessel that God used to change the trajectory of my life. It was your belief in me(that I still tremble at the thought of) that has led me here. Thank you.”
She continued by appreciating her team and co-stars from Scandal!, highlighting how important their support has been in her growth as an actress.
“@etvscandal fa what an incredible bunch of people! Thank you for allowing me room to PLAY! Thank you for believing in me and surrounding me with only the best of directors, crew members, co-Artists so that they could bring out the best in me. @kwenzo_pholoba, @pasi_koetle and @therealnombulelomhlongo thank you guys this could not have happened if you guys didn’t play along so incredibly well.”
Ending her message on a spiritual note, Londeka gave thanks to God, writing, “And last but not least ,Jesus! My Lord and saviour do “So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31 – let all that I am, do and become continue to glorify your name.”
