Reality TV star Nonku Williams has finally responded to allegations made by former friend Beverly Steyn, following claims of a financial dispute that allegedly led to the breakdown of their friendship.

Beverly Steyn recently spoke to News24, where she opened up about what she says caused the fallout between her and Williams. According to Steyn, the situation is linked to alleged financial exploitation. Speaking to News24, Steyn claimed that Williams borrowed a large sum of money from her under a signed agreement but failed to repay it by the agreed deadline. After months of trying to recover the money with no response, Steyn said she handed the matter over to her legal team.

The claims sparked public discussion, placing Williams and her family under intense scrutiny. On Wednesday, 4 February 2026, Nonku Williams released a heartfelt public statement addressing the situation and issuing an apology to Steyn.

In her statement, Williams said, “I want to take a moment to speak openly and from the heart. First, I owe Beverly Steyn a sincere apology. I know should have handled this situation differently, and I take full responsibility for my part. I’m not here to deflect, blame, or hide, I’m here to be honest.”

Williams went on to speak about the challenges she has faced as a single mother, explaining the pressure she feels to provide for her children. She shared, “I’m a single mom for the longest time, and anyone in my shoes knows how heavy that responsibility can be. There’s a constant pressure to provide the very best for your children, especially the things you never had growing up.”

She stressed that while she has often gone without, her children have always come first. “I can go without anything – I always have – but my kids have to be taken care of. That has always been my priority,” she said.

One of the most painful aspects of the situation for Williams, she explained, is the impact it has had on her children. “What hurts the most is that the person who shared this publicly doesn’t understand or didn’t consider, the mental and emotional toll this has taken on my children,” she said, adding that her child had just started a new campus and should not be defined by this controversy.

Williams also clarified her side of the financial dispute, saying, “As business owners know, payments can get delayed. That’s what happened here. I had every intention of paying her back fully.” She added that she believed the matter could have been resolved privately.

Addressing public criticism, Williams admitted her mistakes. “That said, I’m not here to be nasty or point fingers. I own that I didn’t communicate the way I should have. I own the fact that I signed an agreement. I take responsibility for that.”

She also expressed disappointment that the matter became public, saying it added unnecessary stress to her family. Williams credited her partner for encouraging her to take accountability, saying he pushed her to apologise and grow as a person.

Reflecting on the situation, Williams concluded by asking for understanding rather than sympathy. “I’m not asking for pity. I’m asking for grace. I’m human. I’m a single mom. And I’m doing the best I can even when I fall short.”
