A through ball sparked a contentious incident in the Istanbul side's penalty area in the 48th minute of the matchday seven Süper Lig clash. Kocaelispor's Metehan Altunbas slid feet-first towards Nübel and went down in the six-yard box. The German goalkeeper saved the initial attempt, then briefly grabbed the right leg of the grounded striker with both hands. Nübel may have prevented Altunbas from scoring with the follow-up.
