Carina Bruwer has spent more than a decade proving that a woman athlete’s endurance can become a funding engine for South African causes. On Monday, 26 October 2026, she added another chapter, completing a 17-kilometre ocean crossing from Durban to Umhlanga in 4 hours and 45 minutes and raising R48,000 for the South African Association for Marine Biological Research (SAAMBR), with donations still coming in.
