When will Kaizer Chiefs winger Langelihle Phili return to action?

The 21-year-old winger made a big move to Naturena in August after joining Chiefs from Stellenbosch FC.

Phili immediately impressed during his first few matches, but his promising start was cut short by injury.

The winger picked up the injury shortly after featuring in Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns on August 15, 2026. Phili scored in the match before being substituted.

Amakhosi head coach Fernando Da Cruz subsequently confirmed that the winger would be sidelined for approximately eight weeks as he undergoes rehabilitation.

The FIFA international break could work in Phili’s favour, giving him additional time to recover and gradually return to full training before Kaizer Chiefs resume competitive action.

Other injured Chiefs stars, including Brandon Petersen, Khanyisa Mayo and Flavio Silva, will also use the break to assess their fitness and chances of returning to action.

Da Cruz will be hoping to have a fully fit squad available when Amakhosi return to action in October.

When will Phili return for Kaizer Chiefs?

With Phili initially expected to be sidelined for around two months, the 21-year-old could return to action in mid-to-late October, depending on his rehabilitation and fitness levels.

That could put him in contention for a return ahead of the highly anticipated Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates.

His return would provide Da Cruz with another attacking option as Amakhosi enter a crucial period of the season. Chiefs having Phili next month will be crucial for their title charge as well as in Africa.
