Former England all-rounder Craig Overton has signed a new three-year contract with Somerset.

His current deal with Somerset was set to expire in 2026 but he has now signed a two-year extension to 2028.

"When I was growing up, I always wanted to play here, so to extend my time with the club is a great feeling," he told the club's website.

The 31-year-old has taken 239 wickets and scored 5,372 runs in 361 appearances in domestic cricket across all formats.

Somerset Director for Cricket, Andy Hurry said: ""His approach, work ethic, competitive mindset and will to succeed have taken him to the very top of his profession, and we very much look forward to him continuing to positively influence matches for Somerset."

Overton has spent his entire career in England with Somerset since making his debut for the club in 2012 and has won two T20 Blast titles as well as the fifty-over One Day Cup in 2019.

He was part of the team that beat Hampshire Hawks in the T20 Blast final in September, taking the first wicket of Chris Lynn.

"This place means everything to me and we're a very close-knit unit. Hopefully, we can do some more special things over the next few years," he said in a statement.

Overton has won 15 international caps, eight in Tests and seven in one day internationals, and was in the 2017-18 and 2019 Ashes squads.

His last appearance came in a tour of the West Indies in 2022.
