Nine households in Nokaneng under Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality received food garden starter packs and production inputs as part of a government support initiative. The intervention, led by the DARDLEA MEC, Ms Khethiwe Moeketsi, also included the donation of a water tank and the establishment of a food garden at Mmamogaswa Primary School. These measures aim to enhance household food security, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and encourage community engagement in food production. The support was part of the three-day EXCO Outreach and Premier’s Imbizo programme, which concludes today, highlighting the government’s commitment to addressing local development needs. By providing both practical resources and training opportunities, the programme enables beneficiaries to improve nutrition, generate income, and build resilience against food shortages.
