Veteran radio presenter Nomfundo Mkhize, known to listeners as My F, has resigned from Ukhozi FM, bringing an end to a broadcasting journey that began when she was still a school learner.

According to internal sources, Mkhize submitted her resignation recently and management has accepted it. The reasons for her departure have not been made public.

Mkhize joined Ukhozi FM in 2007 while in Grade 11 at Pinetown Girls’ High School. She became one of the station’s most recognisable voices, especially among youth audiences. She hosted popular youth programmes such as State Your Mind, Youth Ke Yona, and Teen Zone. She later took over UNkulunkulu Nomuntu Omusha, succeeding Sbu Buthelezi.

At the time of her resignation, Mkhize had moved into production roles, working on Sunday programming. She had produced several major shows, including Kanye Nawe with the late Bheka Beekay Mchunu, Ubusuku Obuhle, and Dankie 1223. Last year, she also produced the weekday breakfast show Vuka Afrika Breakfast Show.

Her exit follows a period of significant changes at the station. Several on air talents and production staff linked to previous line ups did not return after an April programming reshuffle.

In an internal staff communication, programmes manager Langalethu Cele reportedly praised Mkhize for her contribution to entertainment and for inspiring young listeners to pursue education and personal development.

Attempts to obtain official comment from Mkhize were unsuccessful, as she referred enquiries to the SABC. The SABC had not responded to media queries at the time of publication.
