I was cruising my feeds today, minding my own business as I cooked in my sweltering 90-degree home office amid another global warming heat dome, when I was stopped dead in my digital tracks upon seeing what I can only describe as 17 words strung together into one of the worst sentences ever to appear in the English language. “The future of the firm is a learning loop in which human capital and token capital compound,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella wrote on X. He was sharing the announcement for the tech giant’s latest AI venture, another wild swing at infinitely scalable growth and profits. It’s called Microsoft Frontier Company and it arrives just days ahead of the company’s latest mass layoffs.
