South African singer-songwriter Celeste Swift releases her new single and official music video, ‘What If You Had Stayed?’, today, October 2, 2026. The deeply personal song explores pregnancy loss through the questions, memories and imagined moments that can remain after a future has suddenly disappeared. Rather than focusing only on the experience of loss, Celeste reflects on the child she imagined, the life she began to picture and the ordinary moments she would never get to experience. The song asks a deeply human question about who that little person might have become if the pregnancy had continued. With its intimate lyrics and vulnerable vocal delivery, ‘What If You Had Stayed?’ marks a particularly personal chapter in Celeste Swift’s songwriting journey.
