Airports across Java and Sumatra are operating again, but the volcano that closed them has not been downgraded. NASA's Earth Observatory published satellite imagery of Anak Krakatau's early September eruption on September 9 and noted that the volcano remained at the second-highest level on Indonesia's four-level alert scale.
