Agriculture Drives South Africa’s Economic Resilience as GDP Figures Show Sector Growth

Minister of Agriculture John Steenhuisen welcomed the data, which highlights the strong role played by farming, forestry and fishing in supporting national economic stability. The latest figures show that South Africa recorded a GDP increase of 0.4 percent in the final quarter of 2025. This growth contributed to a total annual real GDP increase of 1.1 percent for the year. Much of this progress was driven by the impressive performance of the agricultural sector, which recorded a surge of 17.4 percent compared with 2024.
