Further fuel price hikes could strain SA’s job market, warns economist

Bongani Motsa, chief economist at the Minerals Council South Africa, warned that fuel prices in South Africa would remain well above pre-war levels despite recent moderation, adding that further hikes could strain the job market. According to the latest data, fuel price increases in October are set to average R3.12/L for petrol 95, R2.93/L for petrol 93, R2.73/L for diesel 0.05% and R3.13/L for diesel 0.005%.
