The continued growth of South Africa’s citrus industry depends on more than successful production and strong export markets. It also requires investment in enterprise development, skills training and opportunities that help businesses and individuals participate in the industry. Industry trusts play an important role in supporting these objectives by directing financial resources towards development initiatives that can strengthen the agricultural value chain. On 30 October 2026, the National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) hosted a meeting of the board of trustees of the Citrus Industry Trust (CIT), together with its administrator, Fruit South Africa (Fruit SA). The meeting provided an opportunity to consider the Trust’s financial performance and its contribution to enterprise development and skills development within South Africa’s citrus industry.
