Nearly 2,000 Valleys Beneath Greenland’s Ice Sheet Link Up in a New Map, a Third Newly Found

Scientists have mapped 1,943 valleys carved into the bedrock beneath the Greenland Ice Sheet, and about a third of them had never been identified before. The new map links those valleys into an expansive network that earlier surveys missed or left fragmented, according to a NASA-led study highlighted by NASA Earth Observatory on September 28.
