The Ferguson family is taking a moment to remember and celebrate the life of the late Shona Ferguson, who sadly passed away on 30 July 2021. Today marks what would have been his 52nd birthday, and his loved ones are honouring him with heartfelt tributes filled with love, memories, and emotion.
His wife, Connie Ferguson, shared a touching 22-second video capturing joyful moments of them laughing together and simply being themselves. Alongside the video, she poured her heart out in a deeply personal message, reflecting on how much she still feels his presence in her life.
She wrote, “Rra the I miss you! This week has been especially challenging! Not sure what’s happening in the galaxies but wow! It’s been an emotional roller coaster!
The kids and I have been talking a lot about you. Honestly, I talk about you to anyone who cares to listen, at every given opportunity! You’re so much a part of me, the fact that it’s almost 5 years since your departure does not even register. Your memory is still so vivid! Like all our experiences were recent. I laugh a lot when I think about you. Yes there are tears sometimes, but laughter is guaranteed! Thank you Sho, for a love and transcends space and time! e My forever ena! Happy Heavenly Birthday my KING.”
Their daughter, Lesedi Matsunyane-Ferguson, also shared an emotional tribute, giving fans a glimpse into the everyday moments she misses most about her father. Her message painted a vivid picture of his routines, personality, and the lasting impact he has on their lives.
She wrote, “Dear Fah… You would’ve been 52 today. You would’ve woken up around 7am, after going to bed around 1/2am, gone to gym, make your shake, then work on your laptop or go to your meetings. You would’ve left the house and a trail of cologne would linger to let us know you’ve left. Later on that same scent would let us know you’ve returned.
You’d either want private school porridge or you’d tell me you’re craving “something naarce” and either way, l’d make it happen
Honestly, dude, you had no understanding of the concept of REST, even on your birthday. I hope you’re resting PROPERLY over there. That’s not to say that you aren’t missed. Cos trust me, YOU ARE!
Between today and 30 July, the grief likes knocking on my door and I don’t know what to do with it most times…
I wanna let it in but the world doesn’t stop moving, so surely, I can’t stop either, right? I think most of this time has been spent with thinking you’re away on the other side of the world instead of on the other side of life. It’s hard to compute that you’re really not here – even almost half a decade later. I miss you. We all do. I wish you could’ve experienced SegoBear; and who knows, maybe you did before he was sent to me. The thought of that is slightly comforting…. But anyway, lemme not bore the masses with my feels. (Sorry guys)
Happy Heavenly Birthday, Fah. I miss you. I love you.”
As the family continues to navigate life without him, it’s clear that Shona Ferguson’s legacy lives on through the love, memories, and stories shared by those closest to him.
