Somizi Mhlongo’s Looks Lead Metro FM Awards 2026 Style

The Metro FM Music Awards 2026 proved that music and fashion go hand in hand, with this year’s ceremony delivering unforgettable red carpet moments. Held on 25 April 2026 at the Durban ICC, the event brought together Mzansi’s biggest stars under the theme “Icon-Inspired Music Excellence,” encouraging attendees to honour legends while embracing their own identities.

Among the standout creatives of the night was Somizi Mhlongo, whose fashion label Sompire Femme played a major role in shaping the evening’s visual narrative. Known for his bold and theatrical style, Somizi dressed several celebrities in looks that paid tribute to iconic figures while still feeling modern and expressive.

Liyema Pantsi made a striking debut at the awards in a custom design inspired by the late Lebo Mathosa. Reflecting on her look, she shared:
“My first #MetroAwards
This year’s theme is ‘Icon-Inspired Music Excellence’ celebrating the legends who shaped us, while making space for the next generation to rise. And for me, there was only one choice…

She continued by honouring the late star’s legacy, describing her as fearless, bold, and unapologetic, adding that the moment was about stepping into that same energy despite any nerves or pressure. Liyema also expressed gratitude to Somizi, noting how the design made her feel powerful and confident as she embraced the night.

Radio personality Khutso Theledi also turned heads in a Sompire Femme creation. Sharing her appreciation, she wrote:

Zola Mhlongo followed with one of the most meaningful looks of the evening, wearing a detailed design dedicated to the late Busi Mhlongo. Highlighting the craftsmanship behind the piece, she shared:

Londie London added a bold, glamorous edge to the red carpet in a gold Sompire Femme gown. Confident and unapologetic, she shared:
