Whether a journalist or painter, creative people always find themselves in the same predicament. The best ideas come when they least expect; not when it’s forced or one is pressured to find a quick solution. It’s just human nature. One could be in the shower or lying in bed, as the adages go. For musicians – pianists as much as songwriters – it’s no different. An idea of a melody or lyric pops up out of the blue and has to be captured for safekeeping and later review. Rudimentary smartphone apps and voice memos can only go so far in accommodating that need or fully facilitating the experience.
