Fresh produce farmers from the Vhembe District have gathered at Ralushai Library Auditorium in Thohoyandou for a focused awareness session on market access. The event, made possible through a partnership between Joburg Market, the Limpopo Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (LDARD) Vhembe District, Vhembe District Municipality, and the University of Venda, aims to equip farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to efficiently supply urban markets. Attendees are learning how to register as suppliers to Joburg Market, properly package their produce, complete delivery notes, and meet transport requirements. The initiative is designed to reduce post-harvest losses, improve produce quality, and maximise profits for local farmers. By creating a platform for direct engagement with sales agents, the session strengthens linkages between producers and buyers, providing practical opportunities to expand their market reach.
