Stakeholders in the Gert Sibande District have committed to working together to support local smallholder farmers and strengthen community development. At a pre-Taking Legislature To The People engagement held at Ekulindeni Community Hall in Kroomdraai, representatives from Grain SA, CALM, Santam Insurance, the Deciduous Fruit Development Chamber, AFASA, and local Traditional Authorities met to align on common objectives. The meeting emphasized collaboration, shared resources, and targeted interventions that can improve production, access to markets, and risk management for smallholder operations. Participants highlighted that collective action is essential for creating sustainable agricultural growth and ensuring that local communities benefit from farming initiatives. This engagement serves as a platform to coordinate strategies that address both immediate challenges and long-term opportunities in the district.
