National Workshop Focuses on Protecting and Sustaining South Africa’s Agricultural Land

The National Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture, recently convened a two-day workshop at the East London International Convention Centre. The workshop brought together key stakeholders to discuss and develop Draft Regulations for the Preservation and Development of Agricultural Land Act. The initiative aimed to ensure that South Africa’s agricultural land is protected, sustainably managed, and preserved for future generations. Participants included farmers’ associations, government departments, municipalities, higher learning institutions, and commodity organisations, all contributing expertise to shape practical and effective regulations.
