Society is not at a loss for eye-rolls when it comes to "helicopter moms" (HMs). The term falls under the "over-parenting" umbrella and describes mothers who "hover" (too) closely above their children to surveil for potential "danger" — physical or emotional — and often intervene in the name of "protection."
