In a recent persuasive essay, “Imagining What’s in Trump’s Brain,” the columnist David Brooks names names of the “wolf pack” of authoritarian bullies, strongmen who make daily news with a raft of strikingly similar approaches, postures, and policies that haunt the world’s stage. Here’s his list of wolfish leaders: Bolsonaro (Brazil), Bukele (El Salvador), Erdogan (Türkiye), Modi (India), Muhammad bin Salman (Saudi Arabia), Netanyahu (Israel), Orban (Hungary), Putin (Russia), Trump (USA), and Xi Jinping (China).
